Extra Motivation

Now that my bf is a membership consultant and the local gym I have extra motivation to go. I get to go say hi to him! (BTW... membership consultant work LONG hours).
Since my return to the gym post-op I only skipped yesterday and that was just because of the snow/ice, it would've been stupid to venture out.
So today's workout (I still have to take it easy as I am not supposed to be exercising yet)
Treadmill: 5 min warm-up, 9 min walk/1 min run x 3, 5 min cool-down
Elliptical: 10 minutes - intervals

Can't wait to check out the scale on Monday, I think it is going to be good.

It's official!!

We are registered for the Smithfield Sprint! Panic Time!!

I went to the gym last night to see what it will feel like, this is almost a week before I am cleared to begin gentle exercise. So I did 30 minutes on the stationary bike, which irritated some of my incisions a little, then I did 10 minutes of the elliptical trainer. I definitely can't swim for another week and probably won't get on my road bike for another three weeks, but it felt great to be able to DO SOMETHING again. I have a lot more energy post-surgery, appetite is lower, and I am eating healthier/losing weight.

Post-Surgery

So I had my surgery a few hours ago. Everything went fairly smoothly. The nurse even managed to start the IV on the first try.. always a bonus as it is the worst part for me. I spoke to the doctor briefly in recovery and he said that it went well, was able to do it laparoscopically (sp) but I didn't make it easy on them.
Found out he told my grandmother and boyfriend (who came with me) that my gallbladder was really swollen, so it must have been a issue for some time. It has, it has been about a year of dealing with the mystery pain, we didn't get it diagnosed until July 25th. Then it was a fight with the insurance to not consider it a pre-existing condition. Plus the past few days had just been one gallbladder attack after another. Like the little bastard knew he was coming out.
Well since it was so swollen when he removed it, my liver bled some. Now, us lucky redheads bleed more than normal anyways, but he had to cardarize (sp?) my liver to stop the bleeding and he told them that would be very uncomfortable for me for a few days. So far it is the only thing that really hurts. The rest of my stomach just feels like I did 8 million sit ups. I am finally being able to keep food down. Overall, the pain hasn't been anywhere near the pain of an attack so I am just thankful that I should never have to have one again. I can't submerge myself in water for two weeks - and can start light exercise then. He said I could do an easy swim and walk a little bit more. It will be 4 weeks before I can truly exercise and lift anything more than 15 pounds.
Unfortunately Carlos and I are moving during those 4 weeks, but Brian has offered to help and so have a few guys from work. Plus we really don't have all that much.

Mid day pick me up

Just came back from a quick walk with my co-workers, .85 mile around the pond. We are trying to make plans to do this twice a day, and double it at lunch time. If we do that would make it 3.4 miles of walking a day... that should help drop some pounds, right?? Or at least make my butt stop spreading from sitting in an office chair all day, lol.
